Can someone please tell me why are people trading tokens with a 30% buy and sell tax on Eth?

A lot of those are indeed ponzi scams. They have high tax and probably a reflective reward system where people get rewarded for holding. The reward is high enough where people think they can make back their initial in X number of days.
