Has anyone actually read the specific technical information before sharing their thoughts? You need to personally give your separated seed phrase to three different external parties.

That's the "backdoor." Ledger won't hold the phrase. So...just don't provide the phrase.

Some folks might not know this, but your wallet doesn't actually hold any coins. The coins are actually on the blockchain. Your wallet only keeps your keys, which you need to get to your coins on the blockchain. You don't need a fancy gadget to store bitcoin offline. You can create an address and keys, write them on a piece of paper, and that works too. After that, you can send bitcoin to that address. As long as you keep your paper wallet safe from fire and thieves, nobody can ever access your bitcoin.
